GCU AD AGENCY LOPE SHOPS + GCBC
Established in 2017, the GCU Ad Agency prepares students for careers in advertising and marketing by providing opportunities for hands-on learning experiences while working with real clients and projects. Students receive mentorship, collaborate with peers and industry professionals, build their portfolios and develop essential workplace skills. From 2017-2021, I led the full-time graphic design mentorship team that collaborated with and guided the graphic design students. Each year, we developed portfolio-building passion projects and coined the term Creative Campaign. Working alongside project management and copywriting, we developed creative briefs for Grand Canyon University enterprise clients such as GCBC, Lope Shops, Canyon Pizza Co., and the Center for Worship Arts. Creative Campaigns provide project development opportunities for the students, increase collaboration across departments and allow our highly talented creative team to innovate strategic development for our clients' needs. Here is the Lope Shop • GCBC Cross-Promotional Giveaway campaign concept set to run as a promotional event during Family Weekend when foot traffic would increase as students' families would visit campus. The concept was for promotional giveaways set at various price points to promote greater sales. For example, when you spend at least $25, you earn a $5 gift card, $50 earns a custom tote and $75 earns a custom GCBC coffee tumbler. Bring the coffee tumbler to one of the GCBC locations on campus for 15% off any coffee drink! GCU provides a unique student experience as a christian university with one-of-a-kind school spirit located in Arizona. To reflect all of these unique attributes of the University, student graphic designer Nicholas Mancuso designed gift cards, totes and coffee tumblers in the following themes: School Spirit, Spiritual and Southwest. Though it wasn't approved for production, the concept and work was highly acclaimed, winning the esteemed Gold ADDY award for Cross Promotional Consumer Campaign and a Bronze in Sales & Marketing Product Packaging.
